12 Wellness Tips to Try!



There are many ways to focus on your health and well-being. There are simple actions you can take that will help you to celebrate your physical and mental health. Check out the 12 wellness tips below that you can do to embrace your well-being.



1. Try a new fitness or yoga class.

Is there a class you've been wanting to try and just haven't committed to it yet? Now is the time and its never too late! Join a gym, get a one month membership, or look into a one month class pass. There may even be local community events that include fitness classes. Check out what may be happening in or near your neighborhood.


2. Enjoy a dinner plate of half fruits and vegetables.

Load up on your fruits and vegetables! Try to find ways to add more fruits and vegetables to your dinner plate.


3. Take the stairs.

If you have the ability to take the stairs and they are accessible to you, try to take stairs instead of the elevator. This is a great way to take more steps and doing this a few times during your day can make a difference.


4. Eat a healthy snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

Choose snacks during your day that include fruits and/or vegetables. Have carrots or broccoli with hummus or try apple slices with almond butter. This is a great way to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet.

5. Ask a friend or family member to go on a power walk with you.

Grab a friend or family member and go for a walk! Walk around the neighborhood, find a local hiking trail, or maybe power walk around your local mall. There are many different places and spaces to be physically active and encourage your friends and family to do the same!


6. Practice deep breathing for one minute.

Close your eyes, be in the moment. Practice taking deep breaths, inhale slowly as you count to four and then exhale deeply, counting to four. Repeat as many times as desired!


7. Drink an additional 8oz of water during the day.

Water is one of the best forms of hydration for our body. Drink an additional 8oz of water during your day. Use a refillable water bottle and take it with you during your day so that it is easy to fill up and re-use.


8. Write down or think of 12 things that you are thankful for.

Practice gratitude. Think of things in your life that you are grateful or thankful for. Open up a journal or grab a piece of paper and write it down.


9. Take a break during your day to stretch your body.

Taking time during your day to stretch is great for your body's flexibility and strength. Try simple stretches on the floor in the morning or before bed.


10. Try making a new healthy recipe.

Making new recipes can be lots of fun! Cook a new family recipe, look up a recipe in a cookbook, talk to your friends or family to see if they have any recipe recommendations. Get excited and make a recipe you think you will enjoy.


11. Share a healthy recipe with friends and family.

Share one of your favorite recipes with friends and family. You could even prepare and cook the meal together!


12. Volunteer or donate to a local food bank.

By volunteering or donating to a local food bank, you can help provide food and support to those in your community are in need. You and your family can even volunteer together to support the cause.
