Strawberry, Banana, and Blueberry Smoothie

Smoothies are appealing and appetizing! Whether it is for breakfast or for a midday snack, treat yourself to a smoothie. Try incorporating fruits that you and your children enjoy and have your children help make the smoothie.

Smoothies are a great way to pack in nutrients and get your daily serving of fruits. The amount of daily fruit consumption needed to meet nutritional recommendations varies based on factors such as height, weight, age, and level of physical activity. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends approximately 1 to 2 cups of fruit consumption daily.

Strawberries, bananas, and blueberries serve as the perfect combination for this smoothie. Check out the recipe below or watch the video to follow along to make this delicious smoothie!

Servings: 2 8oz cups

Ingredients:

6-8 frozen strawberries

1 or 2 bananas

½ cup of frozen Blueberries

2 cups of 2% milk

Steps:

1. Gather all of the ingredients. For this recipe, you can substitute 2% milk for whichever type of milk you would like to use (oat milk, almond milk, cashew milk, whole milk, etc.) – it is up to you based on your preference and any dietary limitations.

2. Cut the banana into small pieces that can be added to the blender.

3. Add all ingredients to the blender.

*Tip: Add a sprinkle or small spoonful of flaxseeds. Flaxseeds are full of omega-3

fatty acids, fiber, and protein, which may help with digestion and antioxidant

protection.

4. Blend until all ingredients are combined.

Enjoy this recipe! Get creative and think of new fruit combinations you may like to try out for your next smoothie!
